# How to draw on a web page in Chrome on a Mac

> Chrome has no drawing tool of its own. Drawing extensions only work inside a page and can't run on Chrome's own pages, so to mark up any tab, or the browser itself, use a screen annotation app like Overlaid.

Web pages are the most common thing people point at on a call. Prices, error messages, a bug in a layout.

There are two ways to draw on one. A browser extension lives inside the tab, and a screen app sits above everything.

## Chrome's own zoom and full screen (Free)

Not drawing, but they make a page readable and keep your tabs out of view.

1. Press ⌘+ and ⌘− to zoom the page.
2. Choose View > Enter Full Screen to hide the tab strip and address bar.

Good:
- Free and always there

Limits:
- Nothing to point with

## A drawing extension (Usually free or freemium)

Extensions add a toolbar that draws on the page you're viewing.

1. Install an annotation extension.
2. Open it on the page you want to mark up and draw.

Good:
- Lives inside Chrome, no separate app

Limits:
- Extensions can't run on Chrome's own pages, like the new tab page or the Web Store
- Marks live in that one tab and don't follow you to other apps

## Overlaid ($11.99 once, 7-day free trial)

Draws over whatever is on screen, so it works on any tab, Chrome's own pages and every other app.

1. Open the page and press ⌃⌥D to start drawing.
2. Circle, underline or point with a spotlight.
3. Switch tabs freely. Each Space, including full-screen Chrome, keeps its own drawings.

Good:
- Not limited to one tab or to web pages
- Fading ink for quick pointing

Limits:
- A separate paid app after the trial

## Tips

- **Sharing one tab hides your marks.** On a call, a single-tab share leaves out anything drawn by a separate app. Choose your entire screen.
- **Zoom the page, then draw.** A larger page gives your circle something to land on and your audience something to read.
- **Blur private tabs.** Cover an email address or token with Blur & Hide before you share.

## Questions

### Why can't my extension draw on some Chrome pages?

Extensions can't run on Chrome's own pages, like the new tab page and the Web Store.

### Can I draw on a web page in full screen?
