// CHANGELOG

What's new

Every release of Overlaid, newest first. The latest is 0.0.10, from Oct 15, 2026. Overlaid updates itself, so you usually don't need to do anything.

  1. 0.0.10

Drawings stay on their own Space

    • Each Space now keeps its own drawings, including every full-screen app. Circle something in one full-screen app, swipe to another and draw there, then swipe back and the first circle is right where you left it.
    • Undo and Clear work per Space too. You can turn this off in Settings, General.
    • Fixed the cursor flickering while ink fades out.
    • Release notes now show up in the update window.
  2. 0.0.9

The minimized toolbar stays where you put it

    • The minimized pill now collapses in place, on the screen the toolbar was on. Before, it could jump to the main display after you moved it between monitors.
    • Check for Updates is now in the menu bar icon's menu.
  3. 0.0.8

    Minimized pill fixes

    • Fixed clicks on the minimized pill not always registering.
    • Tightened the spacing inside the pill.
  4. 0.0.7

    Blur & Hide, automatic updates

    • New Blur & Hide tool (press D). Drag a box over an API key, email address or customer name and blur it, pixelate it or cover it with a solid block.
    • Overlaid now updates itself and can show you what changed.
    • Expanding the minimized toolbar now opens it on the screen the pill is on, not the main display.
    • The toolbar remembers its position, the trial shows a live countdown, and Settings got a redesign.
  5. 0.0.6

    Installer fix

    • The version number on the installer window now matches the app you're installing.
  6. 0.0.5

Shift shortcuts in the keystroke overlay

    • Shortcuts that use Shift now show the whole combination, like ⇧ B, instead of only the modifier.
  7. 0.0.4

    Settings shortcut, for real

    • Pressing ⌘, now opens the Settings window. On some Macs it opened a blank one.
  8. 0.0.3

    Crash fix and mouse zoom

    • Fixed a crash at launch on some Macs.
    • Added the ⌘, shortcut for Settings.
    • You can now zoom with a mouse: hold ⌘ and scroll in draw mode.
    • Fixed a loop of Screen Recording permission dialogs when zooming.
  9. 0.0.2

    A first-launch welcome

    • A short welcome on first launch shows the core shortcuts.
    • The toolbar is pinned by default.
    • Builds are now notarized by Apple, so macOS opens Overlaid without a warning.
  10. 0.0.1

    First release

    • Draw on top of any app with a shortcut: pen, highlighter, line, arrow, rectangle, ellipse, text, ruler, eraser, and select, move and resize.
    • Fading ink that clears itself after a few seconds.
    • Pinch to zoom the whole screen in any app, then draw at that zoom.
    • Cursor effects: click ripples, halo, spotlight and trail, with a shortcut to cycle them.
    • A keystroke overlay with raised keycaps that skips password fields.
    • 7-day free trial with every feature, then a one-time purchase. Works on macOS 14 Sonoma or later.
