Privacy.

Your drawings, highlights and text labels exist only on your screen while you use them. Overlaid never uploads them anywhere.

Your settings (shortcuts, colours, toolbar layout and keystroke-overlay style) are saved in your Mac's standard app preferences and stay there.

The keystroke overlay needs macOS's Accessibility permission to see which keys you press, so it can show them on screen. Key presses are displayed and then discarded. They are never recorded, stored or sent.

When macOS marks a field as secure (password fields, for example), Overlaid shows nothing at all. You can leave this permission off if you don't use the keystroke overlay.

The magnifier, Zoom and Snipe tools need macOS's Screen Recording permission to read the pixels they magnify or capture. That happens in memory, on your Mac. Overlaid never saves your screen to disk on its own, and never sends it anywhere. Drawing itself needs no permission at all.

When you activate, Overlaid sends your license key and your Mac's name (as set in System Settings, e.g. “Priya's MacBook Pro”) to Dodo Payments, so the activation can be tied to your Mac and shown to you if you need to move it.

On launch, the app checks the key with Dodo Payments using the key and its activation ID. If you're offline, it keeps working for up to 7 days before it needs to check again.

Your license key, activation ID and free-trial start date are stored in your Mac's Keychain. The trial date lives there so reinstalling the app doesn't restart the trial.

Payments are handled by Dodo Payments, our merchant of record. They collect your payment details and handle tax. We never see your card number. We receive what we need to issue and support your license: your name, email, country and order details. Dodo Payments' own privacy policy covers how they handle your data.

This site uses DataFast in its cookieless mode to count visits and see which pages and links bring people here. It sets no cookies: a visitor is represented by an anonymous hash that changes every 24 hours, so you can't be followed across days, and nothing is sold or shared for advertising. The site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and reliability. The “licenses left” counter on the pricing section asks Dodo Payments for a number and involves no personal data.
